How do you wear a stoma belt if your stoma is on the right side?
Start with the position of your pouch and the design of the garment. Right or left is only part of the fit.

A stoma on the right side does not, by itself, tell you whether a belt will fit. Check where that model's pocket or opening sits, compare your measurements with its own size chart, and make sure you can reach the pouch. Do not pull the appliance sideways or fold its outlet to make the garment work.
Check the pocket before choosing a size
Look at the instructions and photographs for the exact model you are considering. Some garments have a pocket for the pouch; others have a different opening or construction. What matters is whether that design accommodates your pouch in its usual position, without asking you to move the appliance to match the clothing.
Check the pouch's length as well as its position. Its lower end and outlet need to remain accessible for your usual routine. A product photograph on another person's body cannot confirm your fit, even when their stoma appears to be on the same side.

Measure where that particular belt will sit
Use the brand's instructions to identify the measuring level, then compare that circumference with the chart for that garment. A trouser waist size is not a substitute. Do not choose a smaller size simply to make the belt feel more supportive; if your measurement falls between sizes, ask the brand how its particular model is intended to fit.
Before ordering, you can ask a concrete question: will this pocket or opening align with a pouch worn on my right side, at this height? Give the garment supplier the relevant measurements without sharing more personal information than is needed. Ask for the model's instructions rather than assuming every belt can be reversed.
Try the fit while sitting and standing
Try the garment gently in your normal pouch position. Sit down and stand up within your usual movement limits. Notice whether the fabric pulls, the closure becomes uncomfortable, or reaching the pouch becomes difficult. You should not have to tug on the appliance, twist the pouch or fold its outlet to fit it inside clothing.
If the design does not line up, try another model or fit instead of forcing it. New pain, skin changes or problems with the appliance belong with your stoma nurse or healthcare professional. This clothing check does not assess the seal or replace instructions for a prescribed support device.
Questions about a right-sided stoma
Can I turn any stoma belt around?
No universal rule applies. Check the manufacturer's instructions for the exact model. A reversible appearance does not confirm that its pocket, seams and fastening will work in the opposite orientation.
Does a right-sided stoma mean I need a special size?
The side alone does not determine the size. Your measurements, the height of the pouch and the garment's construction all matter. Check alignment and access as well as the size chart.
